Prep Robotics Team Earns Recognition in National Competition

Sandia Prep’s ninth-grade robotics team has earned an Honorable Mention in the Toshiba/National Science Teaching Association (NTSA) ExploreaVision National Science Competition, the only New Mexico team to make the list.
Students Connor Broderick ’28, Liam Wolf ’28, Wyatt Evans ‘28, DeAngelo Chavez ’28, Dawes Bornemeier ’28, and Logan Davis ’28 landed the honor for their work on the Smart Blue Crab Recirculating Aquaculture System.
Math teacher and robotics coach Jennylou A. Pangilinan-Riel led the team, with support from Dan de León, chair of the Innovation through Design Department; the Engineering Department; and parents.
Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision empowers young minds to imagine the future and create innovative solutions for the world’s challenges through its STEM competition. The comprehensive STEM project format guides students through every step of the research and development process, fostering critical thinking and scientific inquiry.
