Have you ever wanted to learn how to make pots on the wheel or make functional ware by hand, but you just don’t know where to go or who to take classes with?

Are your Saturday schedules unpredictable and you wish you had some flexibility in taking a pottery class?

Do you wish you had access to an awesome clay studio with some fellow potters and a really good teacher?

Look no further! Waseem Touma, Sandia Prep's ceramics instructor with over 25 years' experience, is offering Saturday clay classes from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Unlike the previous 6-week sessions, this will be every Saturday from September 5 to December 5. You can schedule any Saturday (a minimum of 3) that suits you and your family during the three month offering period.

You will learn the fundamentals of how to make vessels and other functional ware, as well as pottery techniques such as trimming a foot, attaching a handle, and glazing your work. This is a great way to learn a new skill and have fun doing it!

Not sure what to make or how to make it? Mr. Touma will have fun monthly themes you can try if you are looking for an idea or challenge!

All supplies, equipment, and materials are included. The cost is $60 per participant/per class.

Fused glass: holiday ornaments

Learn how to make ornaments for the holiday season! Working with a variety of materials (sheet glass, paint, frit or coarse powdered glass), participants will make three ornaments. Sample patterns will be available, and techniques including glass cutting will be demonstrated. Ornaments will be kiln-fired following class, and available for pick-up about two weeks later. Schedule any class that suits you. Each class functions as a standalone session.

Learning to See: Landscape in Watercolor

December 2, 9, and 16, 2026. 
6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Sandia Prep Room 501
Ages: 16+
Cost: $180 + a $15 materials fee.

In this 3 session class, students will learn the fundamentals of painting the high desert landscape in watercolor. We will explore simple techniques for capturing colorful skies, distant horizons, and plants of the Southwest. Through guided instruction, students will become familiar and confident with watercolor and find joy while painting the landscape. Beginners encouraged to attend!
