Favorite Book
Coming of Age in Samoa by Margaret Mead. I stumbled across this book in high school. I laughed and cried, it blew my mind and changed my life. And it was written almost 100 years ago. So humbling!
What's your secret skill or something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I love learning and am insatiably curious. But I was a really difficult student. There are many retired school administrators and teachers who really enjoy that I work at a school - they laugh and laugh.
How do you like to spend your downtime?
Downtime? What’s that? Always Prepping!
What do you enjoy most about Sandia Prep?
I love our community, the students, the teachers and our green space. I’m always learning something new in unexpected ways. At Sandia Prep, we are always learning and growing, exploring, transforming, and playing with ideas and outside, and with each other.

BA, MA, PhD
Oh dear! I love education. I have two master’s degrees from Georgia State University, in education and psychology. I have doctoral degrees in clinical and school psychology. My postdoctoral degrees are from Wayne State University and The Ohio State University. I was an associate professor at UNM Health Sciences Center in Pediatrics before coming to Prep. This makes me sound old. I am here at Sandia Prep because I know that the world becomes what we teach. Working with youth on mental health and wellness, as a fundamental part of school, is where it is at for building a healthier, happier world. |
