Five Prep Seniors Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists
September 11th, 2025
Sandia Prep is proud to announce that five members of the Class of 2026 have been recognized as National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists, one of the nation’s most prestigious academic honors.
Each fall, high school juniors across the United States take the PSAT/NMSQT exam, and only about 1% of test takers in each state qualify for semifinalist status. The designation is a significant academic achievement that distinguishes students in the competitive college admissions process. Many selective universities offer scholarships or special programs to National Merit scholars, making the recognition especially meaningful.
For the Class of 2026, the official list of semifinalists was released nationwide on September 10, 2025—nearly a year after the students took the exam.
Sandia Prep congratulates its five semifinalists: Jonah Gutow, Hannah Leng, Malcolm McJimsey, Humdan Qureshi, and Lucy Tyroler.
