Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens: Enjoy a few of your favorite things as Sandia Prep once again collaborates with Landmark Musicals.

The Sound of Music runs weekends November 21 - 30 at UNM’s Rodey Theatre and features numerous Prep students, faculty, alumni, and parents.

Now celebrating its 60th anniversary, The Sound of Music, the final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein, was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical. Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” and the title number, The Sound of Music won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulant who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision.

*Relaxed performance - The November 23 matinee will be a relaxed performance, intended to be sensitive to, and accepting of, audience members who may benefit from a gentler theater environment. These performances are open to all; however, they are intentionally modified to accommodate patrons with sensory and vestibular sensitivities, anxiety, dementia, autism spectrum disorders, learning differences, or challenges attending the theater.
