Prep Baseball Raises Money for Special Olympics
May 2nd, 2024
Sandia Prep's Baseball Program held several successful fundraisers in support of Special Olympics of New Mexico.
Players held bake sales during middle and upper school lunches on Thursday, April 25. The following day, during the Varsity team's double header, they raised money from entry fees, raffle sales, and a silent auction.
Special Olympics representative Brittany Scanlon spoke to attendees about the organization, and Special Olympics athlete Christian Baird threw out the first pitch.
The efforts netted $2,575 for Special Olympics.
The Baseball Program appreciates the support of all the parents and others who donated baskets and gift cards to this event and helped make it possible. Players donated their lunchtime to work the bake sale, and the JV team sold raffle tickets during the game. National Honor Society student Abby Kronberg '25 volunteered her time to staff the front entry.
