“Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas.” — Albert Einstein Math has always been woven into her life. The daughter of a teacher, she knew early on that education was the right path for her, and her passion for the subject deepened when she began tutoring math in college -- an experience that brought her, as she puts it, “profound joy.” A proud holder of degrees in Industrial Engineering and Applied Mathematics, Reedy has a lifelong appreciation for problem-solving. During her time at Prep, that love of math -- and of sharing it -- has only grown. “I enjoy when students understand the content and see how their hard work pays off,” she says. “I love math, and it’s wonderful spending my days sharing it with others.” Her students know she’s not above a little humor in the classroom -- especially when it involves a cheesy math video. “Incorporating them into my lessons helps students understand and retain information over time,” she says. Reedy’s goal is to help students see how math connects to everyday life -- whether they’re calculating a budget, designing a project, or simply figuring out how much gravel they need for a landscaping job. “Math is helpful in all aspects of life,” she says. One of her favorite parts of teaching at Prep has been sharing the experience with her two sons. “I’ve really enjoyed seeing them around campus and talking with them about what they’re learning,” she says. “Whether it’s helping with a homework problem, listening to a presentation, or watching them in their sports, I’m grateful to have been part of it all.” When she’s not inspiring students with the elegance of a well-balanced equation, Reedy keeps busy with an impressive list of hobbies -- from knitting, crocheting, and cross-stitching (she once built a five-foot wooden pencil!) to gardening, cooking, baking, fishing, and raising chickens. Fun fact: In high school, she took aim -- and hit the mark -- by winning third place in the National Indoor Archery Championship. Yes, she’s sharp with numbers and arrows. For Reedy, math isn’t just about finding the right answers -- it’s about discovering the beauty of logical thinking and the joy of learning something new every day.
