Culture of Kindness

Making Kindness Cool
The Prep Pledge: As a member of this community, I promise to uphold the highest standards of personal and academic integrity, respect all its members, and contribute to Sandia Prep's culture of kindness.
Sandia Prep was among the nation's first schools, and New Mexico's only school, to join Harvard University's "Making Caring Common" campaign. The campaign encourages students to build strong, inclusive communities and prepares them to be caring, constructive citizens.

Sandia Prep's SuRGe (Student Relations Group) is on a mission to create a positive presence around campus. Through school-wide campaigns like "Start with A Hello Week," positive affirmations and notes posted throughout campus - plus regular recognition of students, faculty, and staff who make Prep a better place - SuRGE is yet another reminder of Prep's strong community.

Sandia Prep is a proud member of Kindness Club International, an organization whose objective is to engage and empower students to see how they can create positivity around school, at home, and in the world. The organization's mission reads:
  • Spread Kindness. Inspire Change.
  • Engage and empower students with simple, yet powerful culture-building projects.
  • Boost social, emotional and academic achievement.
  • Reduce discipline issues. Raise retention rates.

Sandia Prep’s Student Government Association (SGA) began a campus-wide initiative encouraging all students to join The Jennifer Riordan Foundation's Spark Kindness campaign. Named after the beloved local community leader who passed away in 2018, the Spark Kindness motto reads “be kind, loving, caring, and sharing.” Through the MyKindnessApp website, students log acts of kindness (AOKs) with their sights set on a goal of one million acts.
