Community Service

Through student-led projects, Sandia Prep students discover the joy of service to others while making a positive impact in the community. By encouraging students to serve, we hope to cultivate lifelong servant leaders who will continue to make a difference in their communities long after they leave Prep.

A Tradition of Service

More than 80% of our students are involved in Sandia Prep’s voluntary Community Service program.

Some of the many service projects led by our students include:

Bosque Restoration - Students assist with Bosque reclamation efforts.

Cuidando Los Niños - Students help at a daycare for homeless children.

Donation Drives - Students raise funds through monetary and goods donations for donation to various charities.

HopeWorks - Students serve lunch at the shelter for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Libros y Niños - Students raise money and provide books and mentoring to local elementary children in need.

Locker 505 - Students sort through donations and organize clothes for this local clothing bank.

Los Ranchos Elementary - National Honor Society members and Prep ninth graders tutor elementary school students and connect with fifth-graders as writing buddies.

Make-A-Wish Foundation
National Honor Society members raise funds and awareness for local Wish Kids.

Storehouse and Roadrunner Food Bank - Sandia Prep community service groups gather donations and volunteer on-site at local food banks.

United Blood Services Blood Drive - Prep seventh graders sponsor an annual Blood Drive, one of the largest school blood drives in the state.

Zapatos - Founded by Prep students in 1992, this program pairs elementary students in need with Prep Upper School volunteers, who provide shoes, socks, and mentoring. The students raise all the necessary funds through work projects.
