Dr. Amber Hayes

Dr. Amber L. Hayes

Psychologist and Director of Wellness Dr. Amber L. Hayes provides continual Social Emotional Learning initiatives. Topics include:

  • Bullying and Harassment Awareness with training on "How to be an Upstander"
  • Strategies for regulating stress and emotions, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as mindfulness meditation, exercise, sleep, and nutrition
  • Diversity and inclusion and creating a culture of kindness
  • Healthy relationships
  • Substance abuse prevention with skilled facilitators

Dr. Hayes is also available to meet with individuals and families and assists with referrals for counseling and therapy.

 

Katherine Lee

Licensed School Counselor Katherine Lee has worked as a high school counselor at a K-12 independent school and has also taught kindergarten. As part of the Health & Wellness Team, Katherine helps develop and implement curriculum for social and emotional learning and provides resources and assistance for students and their families.



 

Lynn Jeffries

Lynn Jeffries, RN

School Nurse Lynn Jeffries has an extensive background in both adolescent and emergency care. On campus full time, Ms. Jeffries provides individual health care needs assessments for students; director provision of nursing health care services; instruction and supervision in provision of care for students with special health care needs; and more.



 

Cathy Walters

Cathy Walters

Athletic Trainer Ms. Cathy Walters has more than 25 years of experience and provides therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. She is also licensed to provide preventative services and emergency care when necessary.

With our closed (locked) campus and security staff that requires every visitor to be identified and given a badge, Sandia Prep has one of the safest campuses in Albuquerque. A campus-wide security audit gave Sandia Prep a superior rating. Our faculty and staff also are trained in the latest critical incident response procedures.

Prep’s Director of Security is a retired Albuquerque police officer with more than 35 years of law enforcement experience. Our security team is trained on the latest research and recommendations in an effort to continually keep our students, staff, and guests safe.
