Why We Give

Serna Family
"I give to Sandia Prep's Annual Fund because the School has given so much to my family. For the last 20+ years, the Sandia Prep community has rallied around Derek ('04), Tasha ('07), and I. The Prep community has helped to shape both our personal and professional lives. Georgia and I like knowing that our donations to Prep will make an immediate difference. As a Sandia Prep student, my teachers instilled confidence in my abilities. Much of my current professional success is due to my Sandia Prep experience, and I remain grateful and happy to support the next generation of Sundevils." - Dominic Serna '01

A message from an Albuquerque Philanthropist: "As a former teacher, I have had a lifelong love of education, and this project (our recent theater renovation) is a perfect way for me to combine that passion with my lifelong love of the theater. I also wanted to make a gift during my lifetime so that I can watch students enjoy the benefits of a remodeled theater.” - Dee Hines

Alfaro-Andrick Family

"Our contributions to Sandia Prep are about supporting the resources needed to provide the enrichment of student life, both academic and extra-curricular. Our son is pursuing his interests, his passions (math/engineering, baseball), while given opportunities for new experiences, valuable lessons, and endearing moments. His personal and academic growth continues to flourish, and it is with the Annual Fund that we can help facilitate this growth." - Claudia & David Alfaro-Andrick, parents of Christopher '23

Lawrence Family

“Our daughter is involved in athletics, drama, and dance at Sandia Prep. We give to the Annual Fund because it is important to us that she has the opportunity to be engaged in additional activities that tuition fees aren’t able to cover. We understand that Sandia Prep also applies for grants to help fund projects and programs. Grants can be awarded based on a participation percentage of Sandia Prep families, so we want to do our part to ensure that the school can secure additional funding.” - Michelle & Jeff Lawrence, the parents of Savannah '24

Przekurat Epstein Family

"We support Sandia Prep's Annual Fund because we care about the School's future. As alumni and current parents of three Sundevils, we value the Prep experience that we had and continue to want the best for the next generation. Sandia Prep has had a positive impact on our family, and we want to help. We also know that grants and foundations look at participation levels from both alumni and parents. This means the higher the participation, the more grants and federal monies Sandia Prep can receive." - Susan
Przekurat Epstein '91 & Ethan Epstein '91, the parents of Austin '21, Kaden '24, and Riley '26

Butcher Family
We support the Outdoor Leadership Program (OLP) by donating to the Annual Fund. The OLP has been a fundamental part of our experience at Sandia Prep. Our daughter has grown as a leader and team player through this dynamic and unique program. We have been able to share in the education and growth that comes with the OLP trips by attending as volunteers. Participating in the OLP has allowed us to discover and embrace the outdoors in a way we would have not done on our own. Supporting the Annual Fund provides much-needed resources directly to the students, faculty, and staff. - Jillian Gonzales ’91 & Brian Butcher, parents of Anamaria Butcher '21

Miller Family

"We give to the Annual Fund because the Arts are our son’s passion and giving supports the drama, music, and Odyssey programs at Prep which are very important to us. At Prep, Colin is given the opportunity to perform in mainstage plays, musicals, and participate as one of the first four Odyssey Scholars – a program unique to Prep. Through our donation, the opportunities for students interested in performing arts, music, and the Odyssey Program can endure." - Elizabeth & Jeffrey Miller, parents of Colin '19

McDermott Family"From the specialized academic offerings such as Introduction to Engineering and Mechatronics, to hands-on research experience in the science labs, Prep has given our daughters invaluable classroom experience going into college. Outside the classroom, both of our girls participated in a variety of competitive varsity athletics as well as Prep's flagship Outdoor Leadership Program where they learned invaluable life lessons and leadership skills while making lasting friendships and memories. Supporting the Annual Fund is our way of giving back to this wonderful community. We also understand that our gift combined with grants based on Annual Fund participation will help ensure that the future of Sandia Prep is bright." - Becky and Scot McDermott, parents of Sydney '16 & Lyndsay '19
