Three Prep Students Named as National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists

Three Sandia Prep students have been named as semifinalists in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship program.

Luke Bemish ’21, John “Cal” Boye-Lynn ’21, and Brendan Clark-Slakey ’21 are among approximately 16,000 academically talented high school seniors nationwide who have an opportunity to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be offered next spring.

The National Merit Scholarship Program honors individual students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies.

The three Prep students were among more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test as juniors (PSAT/NMSQT.)

The nationwide pool of Semifinalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state, according to a news release.
