Modern Language Chair and Spanish instructor, Mr. Claudio Perez, traveled to Redmond, Wash., recently as a guest speaker at El Centro Cultural Mexicano for the inauguration of "Border Doors: Unmasking Zones of Meaning." The exhibition of painted and mixed-media collage doors reflect on the life experiences of Mexican and Central American immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. These border doors were created by Sandia Prep's Spanish 5 students over the past several years. Many local political figures and community members were present. Senor Perez has been asked to take the exhibition to several colleges and universities across the country. You can read more about the exhibit here on page 3 of the Redmond Reporter and watch a video about it here.
