Travel with SPS

Costa Rica Summer '08

Bryan Wilson '09, along with fellow Prep students ventured by boat through the canals and wetlands of Tortuguero National Park, Costa Rica. Students traveled to Costa Rica and Nicaragua this summer to learn about rainforests, cloud forests and the oraganisms that depend on them. They learned the effects of deforestation, hiked waterfalls, sea kayaked, explored active volcanoes and observed wildlife.

Trip to Ghana Spring Break 2009
Arne Vanderburg and his wife Jan are planning on taking a small group of Upper School students and parents to Ghana, West Africa over spring break next year.This will be their second trip to Ghana with SPS students, as they also went in 2006. The first trip focused on the tropical, coastal southern area of the country while this one will add a visit to the northern region, just south of Burkina Faso and the Sahara desert. It will be a fascinating exploration of the incredibly varied land and cultures of Ghana, a country known for the warm hospitality shown to visitors. Trip to France Spring Break 2009
Plan ahead for an “Impressionist Tour of France” from March 12, 2009 to March 22, 2009. Mesdames Mary Ann Garcia-Word and Mary Anne Modzelewski will be offering a French student European excursion from “Paris to Provence” during Spring Break 2009. Some of the highlights include visits to the Musée d’Orsay and L’Orangerie, Paris shopping, Bateaux Mouches, a picnic in Giverny, an excursion to a Provence perfumery, a scenic train ride to Atelier Cezanne in Aix en Provence, and a tour of Nice. Argentina Trip 2009
March 19-28, 2009. Fly to Buenos Aires, which is as beautiful as Paris with a style all its own. Then the group will take the short flight into Brazil to the Iguazu Falls to visit the unbelievable waterfalls located on the Argentina/Brazil border.

Peru/Machu Picchu Trip Summer 2009
June 15-25, 2009. Climb through the magical ruins of Machu Picchu, escape the world as you canoe through the jungle, and explore towns steeped in history, beauty, and myth.
