Library

Sandia Prep's library is open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Its staff consists of 2 full-time professional librarians and 2 part-time library technical specialists. The library holds a collection of over 16,500 books as well as materials in many different media formats (video, audio, CD-ROM, etc.). There are print subscriptions to over 50 magazines and thousands of online newspapers and magazines (accessible through the library's home page).

The library offers a complete computer resource center that enables students to search the internet for research and perform word processing (on Microsoft Word), build spreadsheets (with Microsoft Excel) and create presentations (with Microsoft PowerPoint). Numerous other educational software applications are available.

The library's home page also offers links to hundreds of carefully selected curriculum-related web sites to help students with their research. Additionally, students have access to several online databases and e-books including Gale Group’s InfoTrac and Expanded Academic Index, NewsBank, Facts on File Science Online, The New York Times Historical Newspapers, and EBSCO Student Research Center and Points of View Reference Center.

In an effort to improve the security of school files, FTP services will no longer be offered. The recent development of USB pocket drives has replaced the need for floppy disks, and has made file transfers much easier. Please consider using a pock USB drive to move files between home and school.
