Beauty And The Beast Performances for Area Schoolchildren Continue
The cast of Sandia Prep’s middle school musical, Beauty And The Beast, continued to entertain visiting groups of local elementary students today, presenting shows for students from Sunset Mesa School and and Los Ranchos Elementary.


Junior Civitan Students Take Local Students on a Reading Adventure
As part of their Libros program, 17 members of Sandia Prep's Junior Civitan treated a group of students from Los Ranchos Elementary to a morning of book shopping and reading fun, paid for with funds earned through Civitan work projects. The Los Ranchos students chose $20 worth of new books; the SPS students then read to them and helped them with their own reading. Libros is an ongoing Sandia Prep service project. SPS Choir Wins State Competition
The SPS Upper School Choir won the New Mexico State Choral Competition (3A Division) held on Friday and Saturday, February 26 and 27.

Next up, the group will perform at the District 7 Large Group Choral Festival on Monday, March 8, to be held at Central United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. If they should receive a perfect score from the judges there, SPS Choral Director Pat Jones has promised to let students dye her hair!

Sandia Prep's National Workplace Awards In The News

Click here to read a recent article in New Mexico Business Weekly about Sandia Prep's national workplace awards from the American Psychological Association.

Sandia Prep is one of only 5 organizations from across North America to win the Amerian Psychological Association’s 2009 National Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award, one of 10 employers to win Best Practices Honors, and the only organization in the country to be honored in both categories this year. The awards were given in Washington, D.C. Click here to read more.

SPS Student Athletes Sign with Stanford and Providence
On February 4, Sandia Prep varsity track athlete Bronson Duran ’10 signed ro run track with Stanford University (California) and varsity soccer athlete Melina Toman ’10 signed to play soccer with Providence College (Rhode Island).

Duran has competed for five years as a member of Prep’s Varsity Track team and has been team captain for three years. He is involved with Junior Civitan community service and has sung with the Sandia Prep chorus for seven years.

Toman has played on the Girls Varsity Soccer team for five years and has been captain for three years. She also participates in Prep’s Student Government Association and Junior Civitan community service.


SPS Alumnus Serving As White House Fellow

Sandia Prep graduate Raul Torrez '95 is serving as a White House Fellow following his appointment by President Obama. Torrez, an Assistant Attorney General in the NM Attorney General's office & a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, is one of just 15 appointees and the only New Mexican to be named.

Sandia Prep Names New Head of School
The Sandia Preparatory School Board of Trustees proudly announces the selection of Steven Albert as Sandia Prep’s next Head of School effective July 1, 2010. Albert will succeed Headmaster Dick Heath, who will retire in July after successfully leading the School since 1986. Read more…

Performing Arts Center Opens
