Meet Our College Counselors

College Counselors

Mary Anne Modzelewski has 32 years of experience working in the arts and education from teaching art in high school and at the St. Louis Art Museum to working in college admissions and secondary school college counseling. She has been Associate Director of Admission at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri and at St. John’s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She served as the Washington University School of Art liaison reviewing art portfolios for admission as well as organizing the annual National Portfolio Day. She was also a college and academic counselor at the Illinois Math and Science Academy. Currently, she is the Director of College Counseling and an art teacher at Sandia Preparatory School. She also serves as high school liaison for the Albuquerque National Portfolio Day, a counselor volunteer for the Native American College Horizons Program, a member of the New Mexico College Fair planning committee and a board member of Colleges That Change Lives.

Dave Schindel has taught for thirty-five years and provided college counseling for nearly thirty. Prior to coming to Sandia Prep, he held positions at Berkeley Preparatory School, Tampa College and University of Tampa (Adjunct Faculty) and Vail Mountain School. Dave is a member of the Board of Directors of the Rocky Mountain Association of College Admissions Counselors and the Board of Directors of College Horizons. He serves as legislative delegate to the National Association for College Admission Counseling and its Executive Action Committee and as Sandia Prep’s representative to the Founding School Board of the Association of College Counselors in Independent Schools.
