The mission of the Sundevil Athletics Organization is to support and promote Sandia Preparatory School's Athletic programs by encouraging parent involvement, promoting school spirit and providing financial resources. Funds generated by the SAO shall be directed toward the advancement of Sundevil athletics and/or to Sandia Prep School and its charities.
Parents are an integral part of each team having a great season. Each sport is unique and so is the parental involvement. The majority of our teams need a team parent. The team parent will help coordinate things such as: snacks, announcers, line judges, ticket takers, concession helpers, pasta parties and end of season parties. If you would like to help with team parent coordination let your coach know. Team Parent Handbooks, created by the SAO with the help of coaches and former team parents are a helpful guide to let you know how you can make a positive impact. Team Notebooks contain important policies and procedures so that parental volunteering functions within the rules of the NMAA and Sandia Preparatory School policies.

Financial Support of the SAO toward the Sandia Preparatory School Athletics Program comes through three primary categories: membership dues, donations, and sales from concessions and apparel. 20% of all apparel sales are donated back to the SAO from our apparel vendor, Graphic Connection. The bulk of funds is generated through concessions. The SAO encourages every team to volunteer in concessions. The more games we cover the more we can give.
Membership: Parents, students, and others having an interest in the SPS Athletics Program are welcome to support Prep Athletics through a yearly family membership of $25. Membership forms will be sent out in the Schedules mailing and also available at the Parent of Athletes Meeting at the start of school.

At Sandia Prep school spirit can be demonstrated in many ways.
The SAO supports and encourages school spirit by providing apparel items for sale. 20% of all apparel purchases are donated back to SAO by our vendor, Graphic Connections. Did you know that wearing Sandia Prep apparel is the easiest way to get in to home games for free?
During Spirit Week our 6th graders are given their lion and unicorn shirts as a gift from the SAO. We want to encourage their school spirit and help them to enjoy their first Spirit Week as a lion or a unicorn.
Team parents have found many ways to encourage team spirit. You may find a bulletin board in the gym decorated, snacks provided, meals for away games.
