Why An Independent School?

As an independent school, we are free to let passionate teachers create rich educational experiences that meet each student’s individual needs — and to offer the academic and co-curricular programs that best serve our students. We employ the philosophy, values, and approach to teaching that are right for our students.

“Private” or “nonpublic”” are two umbrella terms that generally apply to the whole universe of nonpublic schools, including independent, parochial or religious, Montessori, and even for-profit schools. Independent schools are distinct from other private schools in that they are independently governed by a board of trustees and they do not depend on church or synagogue funds as parochial or religious schools do, or on tax dollars as public schools do.

As an independent school, Sandia Prep has the freedom to serve our unique mission — to employ the philosophy, values, and approach to teaching that are right for your child. We are free to let passionate teachers create rich educational experiences that meet your child’s individual needs. We are able to choose and offer the academic and co-curricular programs that best serve our students.
