Admission

Admission Process
Admission to Sandia Prep begins with your request for an Admission Information Packet. Admission to Sandia Prep begins with your request for an Admission Information Packet. Once you have received the packet, there are a number of steps you must take so that your child may be considered for admission. While we are looking to fill an entire 6th grade class, there are usually a few openings for other grades as well (grades 7 through 12).

You get to know us:

We get to know you:

An admission committee selects students for admission based on the information gathered in the above ways. The overriding principle in selecting students is whether the child can succeed in this environment. Additionally, we make a concerted effort to create an interesting and balanced student body. In the admission procAn admission committee selects students for admission based on the information gathered in the above ways.ess, we seek to bring together a group of students with varying backgrounds, interests, talents and personalities. Sandia Prep admits students of any race, color, or national or ethnic origin and does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, color, national or ethnic origin, or sexual orientation in administering its educational policies, admission policies, financial aid programs or other school-administered programs.

After application files are reviewed thoroughly, the admission committee decides whether to admit, not admit or place an applicant on hold. Students who are placed on hold are placed in an unranked pool. All are students whom we would like to have at our school, providing we had the space. Should a class vacancy occur, the entire pool is reviewed in an effort to recreate the class "balance" so carefully created in the initial admission process.

We know the process of admission is not an exact science. We are looking for reasons to accept students — not reasons to reject them. No particular testing date gives a student an advantage. However, we encourage you to apply early and as soon as possible.

"We’ve come to love Sandia Prep and its emphasis on developing the whole person in our son. If your child excels in academics, he will be challenged by Prep’s nationally recognized program — and allowed to accelerate when needed. She will also find a safe environment to try new things — and discover how fun the outdoors can be."
